Nikon: Users can put it straight on the SD card and install it from there. Create a folder on the SD card called NIKON (after it’s formatted), then make a folder called CUSTOMPC inside that one
Right now the maximum RAW resolution on the Mark II is just below 1080. Other cameras are also in the early stages, like the T3i and the 6D. This hack will probably come to all of the Canon cameras, but not all of them will be able to shoot 1080, so there may be some scaling needed in post.
I shoot RAW exclusively with my Canon. I now shoot RAW + JPEG, but unless the photo has been taken in extreme conditions, the rendering I get with JPEGs is usually all I need. I do recommend getting the free X-Raw Studio. That allows you to put RAW files on your computer, then tether your camera and manipulate the RAW files using the camera's f/5.6 @ 93mm for 1/200 sec at ISO 1250. This is a camera where I'd shoot RAW for insurance, but JPEG as my starting point for most of my images as you'd be hard pressed to get results this good with Lightroom without a lot of manual effort. f/4 @ 38mm for 1/500 sec at ISO 200.When correcting RAW images and if shooting distance information has been saved to the image, the slider is set automatically according to this shooting distance information. However, if no shooting distance information is saved to the image, the slider is set automatically to the right end at infinity position and a [] appears above the slider.
