Anyway this unreliable part will now cause my car to be off the road for 4 days. A car such as a Punto is not roadworthy without functional windscreen wipers.
hi i have a problem with the wipers not working on a fiat ducato 120 multijet van just stopped checked fuse and is ok wondering if it has a relay as it does not show in hand book on the van thanks richard. just wondering if i can touch the three cables from a live to see if wipers will work .

With a controlled tuck it comes out it's locking profile. First remove wipers, then the plastic locking pins, and the a controlled tuck. OP.

cleaning the terminals coating the terminals with petroleum jelly and refitting them, that sorted out the problem. Never coat terminals/posts before fitting them. Clean terminals, clamp securely, then coat them with grease, or whatever you prefer. Coating them first simply adds yet another potential problem.
If Fiat replace the unit it is likely to be with another unit with the same design fault. Cartronix say they beef up the unit in some way when they repair it. The only evidence of this to my untrained eye is that the warning lights are brighter when they are on but I have no reason to disbelieve them. 4. Aug 1, 2011. #1. Hi all, something strange has happened suddenly on my 2005 Panda multijet. The wipers will only work on the fast speed but won't park switched off. They don't work on slow speed or itermittent. Is this likely to be a wiper motor issue or a problem with the wiper switch. I'm going to check the fuses but suspect the fast speed

The fix is to remove the wiper arms and cycle the flick ( any speed will do) and let the motor come back to it's natural park position. The problem is that the linkage has become shifted relative to the motor. Take out the linkage and motor assembly. Disconnect the two link arms at the back of the motor box.
